______
Bjørnar Habbestad and Pascal Baltazar both work towards combining composition and live performance. In this project they mix transformed flute and voice with instrumental electroacoustic setups and project the results into a sonic space performed by Benjamin Maumus.
Their work develops its materials and forms from the confrontation between improvisation and the spatial possibilities offered by the extended acoustics. Departing from this attitude, the three computer-instrumentalist involve in a research and composition process based on empirical experimentation and typological classification of the material and its spatial aspects. The work in its final form(s) might be ranging from completely improvised to tightly composed, with all kinds of in-betweens…
The main topic of the project will address the possible relationships between gesture and space. By amplifying or contradicting these connections, the three performers develop oppositions, transitions and mutations between sonic layers and emerging gestural figures. Different topologies will be defined along the unfolding of the performance(s) in order to create multiple dynamic and heterogeneous spaces in the listening room.
